Dutch designer Bertjan Pot, has used jumper material to create a feel of comfort. I feel this is going to be a main aspect to my chair to create a comfort feeling.
Material and colour will be a large part of my design, as users will interact with the cover fabric. The material must be robust for everyday use, but still invoke the feeling of comfort.

The chair consists of one continuous cover, (jumper material) over a frame of steel structure and solid wood. The cover certainly makes the chair shout 'Comfort'.

Hemp Moulded Chair- A Great Plastic Alternative

Hemp Moulded Chair- A Great Plastic Alternative
These stackable hemp chairs are designed by Berlin architech Werner Aisslinger. It is made by moulding hemp fibres under heat with a water-based, formaldehyde-free glue. This chair although not yet on the market this chair represents a breakthough in using renewable materials instead of plastic. This is the first Monochair to be made out of this material.

Chairs made form one sheet of material.

I feel that these chairs are some of the best designs, as they incorporate the same sheet of material, and without compromising on aesthetics.

Pano Chair
(bottom left)

The Pano chair is made from one sheet of ply wood, and there is virtually no waste. It fits together without the aid of glue. This chair uses the principle of "share cut" which means one cut creates to useful pieces.
"STUDIO LO works on objects through strong constraints: ethical, institutional, technical and symbolic."

These are a few other examples of "share cut" products.
